Ladies Tournament 2023

The annual Rye Ladies Doubles tournament took place on Thursday 6th June. Organised by Ellie Cochrane, with some help from Caroline Robinson, 22 pairs of ladies from Rye and other local clubs, including Cross in Hand and Iden Green, gathered to do battle on the grass. Thanks to Adam Stunt for superb preparation of the courts and to the Pink Kitchen for an excellent lunch in the clubhouse afterwards.

“Seeing friends old and new is always fun. Add on a beautiful day (not too hot), lawn tennis on emerald-green courts, crisp whites and a delicious lunch and you are pretty much there. A stiff standard in the top group, with a pair from Cross in Hand triumphant, and pretty evenly matched players in the two other groups made for good competition. This is what Rye LTC does best!”

Group 1 winners were Tania Spooner and Anne Oliver
Group 2 winners were Penny Cunningham and Charlotte Hensley
Group 3 winners were Fiona White and Sarah Waters
